One of the sweetest thing that happened to me this ‘month of Hearts’ is a chance to bond with close friends at the “The Sweetest Thing” Valentine’s Day Picnic Dinner at the Rockwell Tent.
Why not? Having a sumptuous three-course meal with my buddies was enough to get me in the mood for Valentine’s Day. This is not an ordinary V-Day date. Whether you’re married, with a girlfriend or your boyfriend, or you just don’t want to be left behind from any happening during Valentine’s with friends—this was it! For P1,500, we had a splendid, exceptional Valentine’s Day celebration.
Our three-course meal, served by Bizu, was a winner. For the first course, we were served focaccine bread and sesame seed soft roll with butter on the side.
Then came our oriental salad which features a refreshing mix of grilled zucchinis, carrots, pineapple, and aubergines tossed with mesclun or assorted small young green leafy leaves which was topped with a special balsamic dressing and crisp vermicelli.
Equally mouth-watering is the main course which highlights an element of a ‘his and hers’ dining perspective. On one large plate, Bizu chefs amazingly displayed a duo menu of US beef belly roasted for ten hours perfected with a demi-glaced sauce sitting on top of a dollop of mashed potatoes; on the other side is baked cobbler fish lorded over a mushroom and spinach cream combo. Both dishes were completed by grilled zucchini, carrots and red bell pepper and a hint of wasabi at the side.
Dessert was a showcase of three tempting treats: an opera cake, calamansi and raspberry mousse trifle and a cup of fresh fruits with syrup. Beverages offered consisted of red or white wine, peach ice tea, soda, coffee or hot tea.
While eating, the Manila String Machine, entertained us with an ensemble of classical and romantic music ranging from contemporary love songs to “Official Sound Tracks” (OST) culled from the best American movies like Sleepless in Seattle and the Sweetest Thing.
We capped off dinner with a free screening of the movie The Sweetest Thing, the 2002 American romantic comedy film directed by Roger Kumble that starred Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate and Selma Blair, with free popcorn. 🙂
